MONDAY
A STRONG START
Monday morning starts a little groggy – is it 8:30 already?! Reb D greets you as you walk into the building, just like every morning, offering a fist bump and cheerful “Boker Tov!” (good morning in Hebrew). The vibe in the hallways wakes you up a little as you greet your friends and shuffle to class.
The morning speeds by — two classes plus a break for Assembly. Today, Justice Vanguard is on campus — an impressive group dedicated to social change. Before heading back to class, you also hear updates from StuGov about Spirit Week and the upcoming Homecoming dance.
Lunch is a choose-your-own-adventure: relax in the Kikar (Hebrew for Plaza), or head over to the JCC cafe and then shoot some hoops or soak up the sun.
Oh right! A reminder from Mr. Brownstone pops up on Schoology to sort through the opportunities for the K-Term. Though the week-long experience happens at the end of this semester, your choice of which to take is due today, and there are too many good ones to choose from!
TUESDAY
LEARNING, AGENCY, & BALANCE
Tuesdays are your favorite with two open blocks for downtime, catching up on work, or meeting with teachers. After AP Physics with Mr. G, you relax with friends in the MPR, though some use the time for extra help or homework. Your English teacher – Mr. Pagano – gave you insightful edits on your essay, so you dedicate your second block to revising before the Jewish High Holidays break. You’re excited to celebrate Sukkot with your Hindu friend, who’ll also teach you about Shravana. Another friend just returned from a NASA field trip with Ms. Vicinity’s class and scored an internship at NASA Ames studying moon analysis and micrometeorites. You’re definitely taking that class next year!
WEDNESDAY
CONNECTION & CHALLENGE
Wednesdays start with a late sleep-in and a trip to the Th!nker Lab, where you’re working on a laser cut artifact for your English book. You also have Heartwork, where you enjoy a game of HORSE with Mr. Legallet. Later, you tackle a tough class and schedule a Learning Center session. After a helpful college counseling session with Ms. Liang, you visit the Wellness Studio to recharge before your next class.
THURSDAY
LEADERSHIP & CREATIVITY
Today’s big — you grab some time before school to review for an upcoming test with a teacher. You’re looking forward to club time at lunch. You’re involved in a few, but today is the one you founded. It’s a diverse crew; you weren’t sure who would share this particular passion, but it turns out, it’s a lot of your peers!
Tonight is the band concert after basketball practice. As a freshman, you could barely strum a few chords, but that didn’t stop you from getting up at the VPA Show in front of the whole school. Honestly, your performance could have been better. But your peers cheered for what you could do, instead of harassing you for what you couldn’t. Flash forward to now, and you’re in a rock band and Mr. Romero is helping your group cut a second album in the recording studio. You even have real gigs lined up.
FRIDAY: KABBALAT SHABBAT & COMMUNITY
Fridays have their own rhythm.
The day is a little shorter, so those who observe Shabbat can get home to do so. You also have a break we call Kab Shab – a student-led program that brings the community together to reflect, laugh, and appreciate the week behind you.
On the way to the Study Center, you come across Moshe and another student in the hallway deeply engaged in Machloket — respectful disagreement – about whether AI is inherently moral because it is programmed to be truthful. Instead of pushing past them, you stopped to listen briefly, and they took the opportunity to ask you what your stance was. Ten philosophy-filled minutes later, you excused yourself to your original task, having been promised the whole class could take up the debate in your next Jewish Studies class.
Three classes later, and you’re packing up for the week. Some friends have a Robotics competition tomorrow, and others are preparing for the upcoming Moot Beit Din. Your main focus for this weekend will be preparing for auditions for the Spring Musical next week. You chose to prioritize the Advanced Math pathway in your class schedule, but you love theater and you're excited to participate!
Waving goodbye in the parking lot, you’re ready for the weekend in the best way — you’ve learned a lot, laughed a lot, and every day brought something new. See you next week, Kehillah!
