Welcome new families!
Choosing a high school is a deeply personal journey. It’s about finding the right classes, the best path; it’s about finding a place where a student is truly known, deeply challenged, and perhaps most importantly, genuinely happy. The high school family and student choose a community where every student has the opportunity to become the fullest, most authentic version of themselves.
When I first walked onto this campus five years ago, I felt that this place was something special. Now, stepping into the role of Interim Head of School, that feeling has only deepened. Every day, I see our students discover something increasingly rare in the modern world: a true sense of belonging. At Kehillah, it’s not enough to just recognize students by name; we see them as individuals with unique strengths, passions, and dreams.
I’ve always believed that meaningful relationships like this are the essential foundation for meaningful learning. |
Kehillah’s approach, rooted in Jewish educational values, guides our faculty to challenge students to think deeply and ask the boldest questions. For us, academic rigor is measured by curiosity, not by competition. It is about giving students the confidence, agency, and freedom to find joy in the process of learning. Whether they are diving into advanced research, studying ancient texts, or exploring technology, our students are constantly encouraged to stretch beyond what they once thought was possible.
I often think about the world our young people are navigating today: the pressures of social media, the intensity of college admissions, and the search for identity in an ever-changing landscape. It is certainly a different landscape than when I was in high school. It would be easier to assume our students are equipped to navigate this heavier load. Instead, Kehillah meets these challenges with empathy and kindness. We believe that when a student feels supported and seen, they can accomplish remarkable things, while still maintaining their well-being and perspective.
I have witnessed, time and again, how the kind of care and attention we provide at Kehillah helps each student grow from anxious middle schoolers into Cohen, thoughtful graduates. Watching these same ninth graders evolve into graduates who go on to exceptional universities is very rewarding, but my greatest pride is that they find the schools and paths that are the right fit for who they are becoming. The Kehillah culture measures a student’s success not just by where they go next, but by how prepared they are to thrive, lead with compassion, and approach the world with courage.
When asked to sum up the school, my answer comes easily.
Above all, Kehillah is a community filled with joy: a place of laughter, lasting friendships, and memories that stay with our students long after they leave us. |
