At Kehillah, learning is an active student-centered experience –

“Who is wise? One who learns from every person.”

We empower students with curiosity, empathy, and agency to engage with their experiences, their communities, and the world.

Assembly

Every Monday morning, the whole school gathers for Assembly – a time to stay informed, connect, and engage in meaningful dialogue.

Organized by both students and faculty, these gatherings are meant to map out the week ahead, give important updates, and discuss important issues as a school.

`KabShab`

Each Friday, our school community comes together to reflect on the week in our version of Kabbalat Shabbat (welcoming the Sabbath).

Organized by faculty and students, the programming includes a wide assortment of games, teaching about Jewish traditions, and school spirit contests. It also features a fun opportunity for our community to share gratitude or appreciation for another member by submitting a Kol Hakavod (Hebrew for "all the honor") to be read out loud to the entire school.

Advisory

Advisory reflects our belief in agency (bechirah) — empowering students to take ownership of their learning and personal growth, while having a trusted guide to support them along the way.

Every student is paired with an advisor, meeting one-on-one at least once per quarter, providing a space for open dialogue, goal-setting, and reflection. Advisors help students navigate academic challenges, connect with resources, and explore opportunities that align with their passions.

Heart Work

Every Wednesday, Kehillah students engage in Heart Work (avodah she’balev), a dedicated time for reflection, well-being, and personal growth.

Rooted in student voice, choice, and agency, students choose activities like reading, journaling, yoga, physical activity, meditation, or prayer. Heart Work encourages introspection, intention-setting, and balance.
